Austria’s largest dripstone cave!
Magical stalagmite formations, unique rock formations, underground watercourses and gorges, and a monumental dome.
The Lurgrotte in Semriach is an excursion destination for all ages and can be visited through well-developed paths (since August 2014 it is equipped with new LED-lights). During the guided tour (about 70 minutes), you can experience the magical scenery of the Lurgrotte and visit the highlight of the dripstone cave: the largest free hanging stalactite of the world called “the giant”.

Summer operation (April 15 – October 31): daily from 10 AM to 4 PM for groups of 5 adults or more. Main tour: 11 AM, 2 PM and 3:30 PM

Winter operation (November 1 – April 14): on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 11 AM, 2 PM


With prior reservation, a visit of the cave is possible at all times.

Kesselfall and the Stone-Gate

The Kesselfall is a popular hiking destination for the entire family and is accessible by well-developed wooden steps and bridges.

Parish Chruch of Saint Aegidius

The gothic parish church of Saint Aegidius is located at the same exact place of where an ancient roman church, built 1100 ad, was situated.


Guided tours through the church are possible after advance notification.

In 1720, the chapel was built above a water spring that is said to have healing powers for eye complaints.

Almost 60 years later, in 1779, the chapel was hit by lightning and the roof was destroyed entirely as a result. In 1811, the chapel was reconstructed and in the years 1965 and 1999 it was renovated thoroughly.

Roman Grave

Roman Grave


The burial mountain is located at Kienzer-Kogl and was discovered in 1962. It is the only in situ renovated burial mountain in Austria.

The domos (entrance) is decorated with stone slabs and leads to a vault in which the ashes and urns of the deceased where placed.

Fire-Brigade Museum

A museum was set up in the newly built fire department to display various equipment of the volunteer fire-brigade Semriach. Some of the displays date back to its foundation in 1891.

House of Art

Great art at a minimum amount of space. The house of art “Kunsthalle K2” (art gallery K2) was designed and established by the local artist Christian Eisenberger. It is located at the market place and is a renowned gallery in the Austrian art scene.

New exhibitions are set up periodically.
